Violette Adelle is now 6. Sigh. My baby. My teeny tiny little peanut has gone and turned six. It just blows my mind!
I have always said she was my easiest baby. My recovery from her c-section was swift and left me in the least amount of pain. She was an easy going, smiley baby, round as can be, and always up for whatever adventure we had in store. Looking back at pictures, it's rare to see anything but a huge, face splintering smile appearing in the picture. Quiet, and sweet, and usually happy, that still holds true for Violette. She is a joy to be around, leaving me always wanting more time with her. She plays well with her siblings (this isn't always true, but out of the four children she causes and is involved in the fewest amount of conflicts) and friends, is quick to comfort those in need and genuinely contains a personality that will take her far in life.
This year I spent many hours and actually made Violette's cake by myself. It was a much bigger undertaking than I anticipated, but 10 sticks of butter later, I think it turned out pretty well for a non baker. Plus, Violette loved it and frankly, that's all that really matters!!
We sang, Violette shyly hid her her smile as she enjoyed the song. Containing her magical smile was difficult, but she tried her best and I was able to get yet again, a glimpse into the sweetness that is Violette.
All the Grandparents soon left, but the time we spent with them all was a great way to celebrate our little girl!
On Sunday Aunt CC and Maizey came over to spend the day with us. I'm not sure how it happens, but barely any pictures were taken. Maizey is a favorite of the children. They enjoy doting on her, catering to her needs, playing with her, and just being as close as they can to her. Yes, she's 3, but they still view her as a baby and happily treat her as one.
Tuesday was Violette's actual birthday and we left the house bright and early to enjoy a Tim Horton's Birthday Breakfast before school.
Zane and I spent the rest of the day, after drop off, getting cupcakes ready to bring to Violette's class. She was all smiles as we passed them and ate them. I just loved going into her class and seeing how friendly and kind she is to all her peers.
We concluded her Birthday with much outdoor play, soaking up the warm (it was low 50s, so they children and about 6 extra neighbor kids, ran rampant and enjoyed the sun after school) sun and fresh air. Tom brought home a requested dinner of ribs and by 7:30pm, Violette was ready to end her 6th Birthday.
I still am in shock that she has turned 6. Each and every year that goes by amazes me. My children are growing. I can not stop them, even thought I want to. I look into their eyes and am amazed I have been given these extraordinary tiny people to guide, help grow, and shape into incredible beings. I am one lucky Mommy!
