Right now we have two children with fevers, Noelle and Max. No other symptoms, just fevers. I'm really hoping it is minor and goes away before we head up to Traverse City on Wednesday. I don't want to speculate what will happen if we are sick on Wednesday, I'm just praying we are not.
The Thankful Rock has been a long standing tradition in our family started back when my sister was in Kindergarten, I believe. Going around the dinner table and sharing all that we are thankful for is probably something most families do. We have a rock that is passed. Noelle and I took on the task of decoupaging our own to bring up to Granma and Granpa's house. We had fun searching out the perfect rock, cutting out pictures of things we are thankful for (mostly toys since there seems to be an abundance of toy catalogs around the house this time year) and decoupaging the rock.
We talked about what we are thankful for. When Max was asked the question, his very typical male response of "My penis!", brought tears to my eyes. Noelle went through the gamut of things she was grateful for, from Tom and I to Oreo cookies, her siblings, Barbie, our house, and presents were a few of her answers. The rock turned out great and we look forward to passing it around the table.
Our plan for this weekend was to doing something fun, like visit The Toledo Zoo The Lights Before Christmas show in which the zoo is transformed into a winter wonderland with over a million lights with a Dancing LED Light show. I have been wanting to go for years and this weekend seemed light the perfect weather, not too cold, for an evening viewing of the lights. Noelle's fever stopped us from going and we stayed around the house doing laundry instead. Not much fun, but that is what happens with sick kids! Hopefully in the next few weekends we can go.
Monday and Tuesday will be spent packing and baking for our Traverse City Thanksgiving. We have not all been together since last Thanksgiving, I do believe. I will, of course, have plenty of pictures upon our arrival back!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!

I hope the kids are on the mend. It's bad enough having sick kids, but especially at the holidays or when you plan to travel. I love your rock and the meaning behind it. Family traditions are so special!
